Recruitment Know-How

There is no question that recruitment is an exciting, yet stressful experience. You can better prepare yourself by following some of our tips in this section. It is also helpful to refer to the Recruitment Handbook that is available online at the UNT Panhellenic Website.
What Can I expect during recruitment?
During recruitment you can expect the following...
To make a ton of wonderful new friends. You will meet many new people. Some will be your new sisters in the sorority and some in Greek Life. They will be great friends just the same!
To sweat. It is hot!!!! You will be provided with tons of opportunities to hydrate. Use them!
To be stressed and nervous. Don't worry. We will be too. Try to laugh about it and enjoy yourself!
To ask and be asked questions. We want to get to know you and we want you to learn about us. Feel free to ask any question that may be on your mind.
To be tired physically and emotionally. Rho Gammas are counselors provided to guide you through the process, but ultimately it is up to you to have a positive recruitment experience. Having an open mind is key when entering each house!
To have a great time! Make the most of the week by enjoying the process and all the great new people that you will meet. Never be afraid to ask if you need anything.
What should I wear?
The Golden Rule of recruitment fashion: Dress cool and comfortably! August in Texas is very hot and you will be outside between parties. Comfortable shoes are a must as you will be on your feet all day. So break in your cute new shoes before recruitment! Great Tip: Bring a pair of flip flops to stick in your bag as you walk from house to house.
Do not wear a watch. You may be tempted to check the time during a conversation. This might make people think that you are disinterested.
Pay attention to the guidelines of appropriate daily attire to avoid being over or under dressed.
Round One: This is the most casual day and nice shorts or capris are recommended.
Round Two: The second day is a little more dressy. It is a good idea to wear nice slacks or capris, as you will be doing hands-on activities at each house.
Round Three: Preference is the final and most formal day. On this day, a cocktail dress should be worn.
Please refer to the Recruitment Handbook available on line at the UNT Panhellenic Website for specific photo examples of attire that is appropriate for each day of recruitment.
